Background Track: "Do You Know Him (Trendsetters Mix)" by
Marvin Sapp; lead vocal: Marvin Sapp; from Marvin Sapp's album, Be Exalted (copyright 2005, Verity Records;
track retrieved from Walmart.com)
His latest album was released on Tuesday, July 26, 2005. It
is entitled Be Exalted (Verity Records). It is his first studio album since the release of his album Nothing
Else Matters from Myrrh (Word) Records in 1999.
Marvin Sapp debuted with Commissioned in 1990, after lead singer
Keith Staten left to pursue solo interests. His entrance into the group added another unique voice to Commissioned. His
first appearance with Commissioned on an album was on Shakin' The House an album that Commissioned did with Carman, and also included members Fred Hammond,
Mitchell Jones, Karl Reid, Michael Williams, and Maxx Frank (who was also a newcomer to Commissioned). His singing
of "I Am Here" (taking Keith Staten's previous role in the song) is similar his singing of the same song on the Commissioned Reunion album. His performance on Number 7, the first studio album that he performed on with Commissioned,
was nice for a first album. He also did a pretty good job of singing with Commissioned on the duet track between Commissioned
and the Clark Sisters on "Lift Up Your Heads All Ye Gates" (Karl Reid actually singing
on during the link) from the 1992 album Handel's Messiah: A Soulful Celebration. Some of his greatest hits
with Commissioned are "King of Glory", "Love You With The Rest Of My
Life", "Stand", "Love Is The Way", "I'm Learning", "Crucified With Christ", "Dominion", "Do You Still Love Me", and "No Weapon" (Note: People You Hear
on Links above aren't necessarily Marvin Sapp - the same goes for the links of the other members unless otherwise stated).
He released his first album, which is titled after him, from Word Records. He left the group after the album Irreplaceable
Love, to go solo, later singing with Commissioned on the Commissioned Reunion in 2002.
He has become a popular artist, and he is currently signed with Verity Records. I strongly recommend getting
his latest album Be Exalted! My personal favorites are "Be It Unto Me", "Do You Know Him (Trendsetters Mix)",
"Be Exalted", and "Changed".
